Grenache 2014
Sonoma Valley
Owned by Landmark Vineyards, this vineyard is planted into 11 acres of Rhone varietals: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Viognier. It is located in the heart of Sonoma Valley, the land of crescent moons. To realize our vision for Edaphos, we work with Grenache from Block 3 and Block 10 focusing specifically on clones that express the more ethereal characteristics of the varietal.
Vinified using carbonic maceration with a subsequent period of aging in a concrete amphora, we preserved elevated aromatic compounds while preserving the purity of its classic flavors. On the nose, dried cherries, red roses and wet pebbles, with underlying notes of dried herbs, such as thyme and oregano. Very dry, light and fruity but earthy and gripping on the palate. The finish is persistent and returns to the wine's initial floral and dried fruits character, confirming its mischievous nature and deceiving early assumed delicacy.
